The course consists of online course delivery and 120 hours of classroom and skills lab time that includes skills instructions, scenarios, and simulations. The student must schedule outside of class time one in-hospital emergency department rotation and two EMS rotations where they will observe and assist with the assessment and management of patients.
This course provides the basic knowledge and skills necessary for individuals to obtain certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) which will lead to Iowa certification as an EMT. The EMSLRC EMT program adheres to the 2009 National EMS Education Standards.
This class will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1800-2200. Classes will be held at the Washington Fire Department, 215 E. Washington St., Washington, IA.

MANDATORY orientation will be held Tuesday, January 7th, 2025 from 1800-2200. Attendance is required, NO EXCEPTIONS. Please do not apply if you are not able to attend the MANDATORY orientation.
